Jonathan Ball’s Ex Machina is a literary latticework of poetic and philosophical statements concerning the symbiosis of human beings, books, and machines. Navigating a series of three intertwining sequences of lines, the reader is encouraged to move back and forth from statement to statement, engaging more dynamically with the labyrinthine text. Through this navigation, the reader becomes a larval stage in the development of the poem.
