Spacecraft Press is proud to announce the publication of kevin mcpherson martins eckhoff’s The Time Machine: Chapter One. A total of 30 copies were produced, only 15 of which are for sale.
To create this edition of H.G. Wells’s novel, kevin mcpherson martins eckhoff hotwired the first chapter of Wells’s text using the “Compleat Randomizer” from lextutor.ca to reorganize each sentence anachronistically. The jumbled sentences of the new text perform the act of temporal teleportation central to Wells’s tale.
The designer chose to similarly format this chapbook in a way that would compliment its content. The various paper types and fonts, and the formatting of the chapter text blocks, perform a temporal porogression of textual presentation styles, showcasing the past, present, near-future, and distant future.
